Grass Seed Processing Plant Operator Required
Golden Acre Seeds sells forage seed locally, nationally, and internationally, and has also been a certified organic processor since 2005.
With the current owner working towards full retirement, there is a need to train a new operator. This opens up a full-time, year round permanent opportunity for someone whose heart is in cleaning top quality forage seed – grasses such as bromegrass, orchardgrass, fescue, wheatgrass, and legumes such as red clover, alsike clover, and alfalfa. This person must be mature, self-motivated, and driven to work at the highest standards for this industry.
The right applicant will have full on-site apprenticeship training as required, which will likely be a few years in duration. This is a career opportunity for the right person.
The applicant should have a farming background, or some knowledge of different crops and weeds, particularly in the forage seed sector, plus have the ability to run forklift, grain trucks, augers, and most importantly, have the desire to learn all there is to know about cleaning and processing forage seed. Mechanical aptitude is an asset, along with the ability to work independently, accurately, and diligently. Working alongside other workers is expected, along with working up to management/operator as the ultimate goal.
Above average industry wages are available for a qualified person once training is complete. Housing off-site is available if required. Class 5 drivers license is required to get to and from the worksite, located 10 miles from the nearest town of Fairview, Alberta, a small welcoming community of about 3300 residents. Relocation for this position would be expected, with families welcome. Our nearest major city is Grande Prairie (pop. 75,000) located 100 km away.
The job description includes becoming knowledgeable in all aspects of seed cleaning, learning to set all cleaning equipment for optimum cleaning of seed, maintenance and cleanout of all equipment and storage facilities, overseeing other warehouse labourers, blending of forage seed mixtures, some lifting and stacking of bags weighing up to 55 lbs, loading and unloading trucks of bulk and bagged seed, inventory management, and many other jobs related to running a precision facility.

Seed Cleaning Plant Workers
Full-time/Permanent
GOLDEN ACRE SEEDS is hiring full-time, permanent workers for our grass & legume seed cleaning plant located southeast of Fairview, AB, located in the heart of the Peace Region of Alberta.
Our aim is to hire people who are mature, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised, have their own transportation, and a valid driver’s license. Good work ethic, attention to detail, punctuality, and a desire to learn are very important. Off-site housing may be available if required.
As part of the job, workers must be able to lift and stack up to 25 kg bags.
Non-smoking work environment due to safety issues is strictly enforced. Competitive industry wages provided.
No experience is necessary, as on-site training is provided. A farming background, or some knowledge of running equipment, augers, forklift, and trucks is an asset.
